Fragile Shipments

1. CHOOSE THE RIGHT BOX

  • Double box fragile shipments using a smaller inner box and a larger outer box
  • Choose a strong, undamaged and sturdy corrugated box
  • Select an outer box that allows for at least 3” (7.6 cm) of space for cushioning material around all side (including top and bottom) of the inner box
  • Check the Manufacturer’s Certification Stamp (on the bottom outer flap) for specific box strength details

2. CUSHION AND SEAL YOUR INNER CONTENTS

  • Wrap and pack all items separately
  • To protect the contents, pack items in the centre of the box, ensuring 3” (7.6 cm) of cushioning material from the box walls
  • Wrap any sharp edges or protrusions with extra padding
  • Fill all empty space with appropriate filler material to prevent movement during shipping

3. CUSHION AND SEAL YOUR OUTTER BOX SECURELY

  • Place the smaller box containing your item(s) inside the outer box and wrap the inner box with a minimum of 3” (7.6 cm) of cushioning (including the top and bottom) of the inner box
  • Centre the smaller box containing your item(s) within the outer box
  • Fill all empty space surrounding the smaller box with cushioning material
  • Seal the outer box using the H – style taping method with pressure-sensitive adhesive poly-tape that is at least 3” (7.6 cm) wide
  •

4. LABEL THE OUTTER BOX CLEARLY

  • Remove labels and markings from previous shipments
  • Place a clearly completed label with full delivery and contact details on the box’s largest surface, and an extra copy of the label inside the box
  • Never place a label over seams, fold it over box edges or apply tape over it
